Pride on the Plains
Established in 2017, Pride on The Plains (POTP) is the flagship LGBTQIA+ Pride organization of Lee County, Alabama. An area referred to as "The Plains." POTP's mission is "to foster a sense of community through celebration, education, empowerment, and inclusion among Alabama's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and allied peoples." The annual Parade and Festival will be held June 5-6, 2020.
On A personal note:
It was not until I moved to Auburn, Alabama, five years ago that I realized the strength of the community that I grew up in. I am so grateful for the acceptance and diversity I was exposed to through my family and friends. And while Auburn is full of southern hospitality, there is still a gap in our community; specifically, the LGBTQIA+ community. This is a community that I have always supported as an ally - represented as the second 'A' in the LGBTQQIAAP acronym. This is my community in Auburn and I am proud to be on the Board of Directors of Pride on The Plains.
