Research Projects
Class: Global Sourcing in Textiles and Apparel
Semester: Spring 2019
Assignment:
In an assigned group, create a fictitious brand and complete a full sourcing plan for the company's products. Choose one country to outsource from and conduct research to support the chosen country.
Class: Retail Management
Semester: Spring 2020
Assignment:
Students are assigned a "Winner" or a "Loser." Winners are retail companies that today are identified as having gained competitive advantage in the current, extremely competitive, ever-changing marketplace. Losers are retail companies that have failed in the past three years. Losers at one point were successful but failed to "change with the times" or identify/implement strategies that would enable them to be successful in the current marketplace. After selecting a company that represents a Winner or Loser, create a comprehensive presentation that includes the history, target markets, overview of the industry/competitive landscapes, point(s) of failure.
*On a personal note: after assigned a "Loser" company, I chose Hervé Léger because of my extensive knowledge and respect for the company as a former employee. While very little is publicized about the history of the brand and Hervé Leroux, I was determined to tell the story about the company that introduced me to the world of luxury retail sales. Although they may have been considered a "Loser" due to their inability to change with the times, I am hopeful that under new ownership and creative leads Hervé Léger will be able to reach new consumers and continue their legacy.
